Jahangir to meet IOC officials in Beijing on 21st

BEIJING, Aug 11: The World Squash Federation (WSF) President and squash legend Jahangir Khan will meet the officials of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) here on the 21st to discuss the inclusion of squash in the 2012 London Olympics.

According to a WSF announcement, the former world champion along with Emeritus President Susie Simcock, who will be in the Chinese capital later this week, will meet the IOC Sports Department on behalf of the WSF.

A WSF meeting with the IOC President Jacques Rogge has been confirmed for November 13.

UK IOC member Sir Craig Reedie, who is also the vice president of the British Olympic Association (BOA), has accepted the WSF’s invitation to attend 2008 men’s and women’s World Open in October in Manchester where he will join the fellow IOC member Tunku Imran of Malaysia.

Imran, the WSF patron, had earlier circulated a letter among the IOC members highlighting the appeal of squash to the Olympic Games which has elicited positive response from several IOC members.—APP
