NGO claims 90 HIV positives

GUJRAT, Aug 14: Ninety people in a locality of Jalalpur Jattan were found HIV positive, according to New Light Aids Control Society, a non-government organisation (NGO). The Health Department, however, did not confirm the findings.

The NGO screened 342 people in the locality on Aug 6 and found 90 people HIV positive. Sources say the NGO was alarmed after most of the residents started consulting hospital.

Executive District Officer (health) Dr Munir Ahmed told Dawn the area consisted of the people deported from the Middle East, United States, Germany and the United Kingdom. He said his department would confirm the screening tests of the NGO.
