HYDERABAD: People’s Party holds anti-Musharraf rallies
HYDERABAD, Aug 15: Pakistan People’s Party took out “Go Musharraf Go rallies” in several towns of interior Sindh on Friday, which were attended by large numbers of party workers. They raised slogans of “go Musharraf go” and in support of Asif Ali Zardari.
In Hyderabad, the rally started from Hussainabad chowk Giddu and after marching on Fatima Jinnah Road, Court Road, Hyder Chowk and Risala Road, terminated outside the press club late evening.
The rally was led by Amanullah Siyal, Maula Bux Chandio, Mir Fateh Talpur, Fayaz Shah, Ms Sanam Talpur and other leaders. The women wing activists of the party also participated in the rally. They raised vociferous slogans of “go Musharraf go”.
In their speeches, the PPP leaders said that the provincial assemblies have already passed resolutions against Musharraf and he had been left with no other option but to relinquish his post. The people of Pakistan have already announced their verdict against Musharraf and he should better quit now.
Reports reaching here from Tando Mohammad Khan said that the PPP activists and its subordinate wings, led by the district president of the party, Haji Mohammad Amin Lakho, staged a rally in the town and blocked Phulelli road for one hour by staging a sit-in.Speaking on the occasion, Lakho said that the entire nation has rejected Musharraf through its elected representatives and added that now he would not be given a safe passage.
In Dadu, a large number of activists of PPP Dadu district took out a protest rally and marched on roads and streets. They were led by senior vice president of PPP, Ghulam Shabbir Abro, general secretary Dost Ali Jessar, district president PPP minority wing Dadu, Dileep Kumar. They raised slogans of “go Musharraf go” and demanded his resignation.
In Mirpurkhas, PPP activists of district Umerkot took out a “go Musharraf go” rally from the party secretariat. They were led by local PPP leaders Anwar Rajar, Malka Walhari and Allah Bachayo Aseer. They carried banners and placards and marched on main roads. They raised slogans of “go Musharraf go”.
Later, they reached Umerkot press club where the speakers said that Musharraf was now in danger and he should resign from his office. They said that there should be complete accountability of Musharraf along with his impeachment as he was killer of Lal Masjid students and Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti.
They demanded of the government not to give any safe passage to Musharraf.
