Three hurt as factory roof collapses

LAHORE, Aug 17: A roof of a factory collapsed in Multani Colony, Shalimar on Sunday, injuring three people including the owner.

The Edhi officials said the victims identified as owner Zameer Ali, 35, Ghafoor, 60, and Ramzan, 40, were present inside the factory when its dilapidated roof caved in after heavy rains.

Rescuers removed the victims from the debris and shifted them to Services Hospital.

FIRE: An elderly disabled woman died from suffocation when a fire broke out in A-Block of Muslim Town on Sunday.

The fire reduced to ashes valuables and households worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

The Muslim Town police said the cause of the fire was a short-circuit in the UPS installed in the house.

The victim identified as Mrs Riffat Ashra died from suffocation after she failed to come out of the building while her other family members, including house owner Sheikh Muhammad Ashraf, saved themselves.

DROWNS: A six-year-old boy drowned in the city canal in the limits of Sattokatla police on Sunday.

Some passersby spotted a body floating in the canal opposite Canal View Housing Society Gate No 2 and informed the police.
