Three MoUs for power purchase

FAISALABAD, Aug 19: The Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company on Tuesday inked three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with sugar mills to purchase 22 megawatts electricity.

Fesco chief Ahmed Saeed Akhtar signed the MoUs with the representatives of Shakargunj, Ramzan and Chishtia sugar mills at the company headquarters.

The Shakargunj mills will provide 12MW, Ramzan 6MW and the Chishtia mills 4MW in the sugar season. A unit will cost the company Rs4.88.

Mr Akhtar said the agreements would facilitate the consumers of Jhang, Silanwali and Bhawana and augment the performance of the company.

He said the company had been purchasing electricity from different power producers to bridge the demand and supply gap.

He said the company would sign a few more such agreements in coming days.

GCUF: The Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) will start a course work shortly for launching PhD programs in the Environmental sciences and Urdu disciplines.

GCUF vice-chancellor Dr Arif Ali said this while talking to Higher Education Commission (HEC) review committee members here on Tuesday.

The committee comprising adviser on quality assurance Dr Riaz Hussain, Arid University, Rawalpindi, VC Dr Khalid Mehmood, Multan BZU VC Dr Zafarrullah and Texila UET VC Dr Habibullah Jamal held talks with the university administration over different academic matters.

Dr Zaidi said the GUCF was offering PhDs in chemistry, botany, zoology, Arabic and Islamic Studies.
