Karachi, Multan enter disabled cricket semis

KARACHI, Aug 22: Karachi qualified for the inaugural National Disabled Cricket League semi-finals after finishing first in the group despite a thrilling tie in their last league match against Peshawar at the AKU ground on Thursday.

From the same group Multan also advanced into the semis finishing behind Karachi, after winning their last league match by three wickets against Faisalabad at the PCB Regional ground.

Batting first, Karachi scored a modest 116-8 in the allotted 20 overs. Rao Jawaid (40 not out) and Danish Ahmed (25) batted well. From Peshawar Abdullah Khan took three wickets for 19.

In response, Peshawar scored exactly 116 runs – losing their last wicket on the penultimate ball of the innings. Fayyaz Khan (20) remained the top scorer. Ameer Ahmed grabbed a four-wicket haul for the celebrating side.

Meanwhile, Multan conquered the 139-run total earlier posted by Faisalabad rather easily with more than two overs and three wickets to spare. Marghoob Alam (37) and Jhanzaid (34) played pivotal role in Multan’s victory.—Agencies
