Police told to timely submit challans
GUJRANWALA, Aug 29: The Justice Criminal Coordination Committee in a meeting on Friday asked the police to improve its performance so that pending cases in courts could be disposed of swiftly.
The meeting was presided over by district and sessions judge Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah while jail superintendent Kamran Anjum, district public prosecutor Fayaz Ahmad Warraich, the DSP legal and other police officers were also present.
The meeting observed that police failed to submit charge-sheets against the accused in courts within the stipulated period.
Mr Shah directed the police to complete investigation swiftly and submit challans in courts within a fortnight otherwise stern action would be taken against them.
The meeting directed the lower courts to decide the cases on merit.
KILLED: A man was killed and his three friends were injured when their car collided with a truck on GT Road near Sadoke on Friday.
Twenty-eight-year-old Asif was killed and his friends Sunil, Javed and Akhtar were injured when their car collided with a truck. The injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital.
