Pressure on PPP ministers to quit Punjab govt

LAHORE, Aug 29: The PML-N has started putting pressure on PPP ministers to quit the Punjab government because the party has the support of more than 200 legislators, sufficient to retain power in the country’s biggest province.

A PML-N leader claimed 225 members were with the government and it could function without PPP’s support.

The government needed only 186 MPAs’ support to survive, he added.

Asked what the PML-N would do if the PPP ministers did not quit the cabinet, he said a situation would be created in which they would be left with no option but to resign.

“The chief secretary could direct the secretaries of all departments not to cooperate with PPP ministers. If the ministers go to their offices they’ll not get any cooperation from the secretaries and it would not be possible for them to continue to work,” he told Dawn on Friday.

He, however, made it clear that the government would ‘not’ de-notify the PPP ministers because such a step would give a bad name to the PML-N leadership.
