Karachi Blues thump Faisalabad
KARACHI, Sept 3: Shahzeb Hasan struck a belligerent 77 off just 26 balls as Karachi Blues inflicted a six-wicket defeat on Faisalabad in the National Under-19 Inter-regional one-day cricket tournament on Wednesday.
Opener Shahzeb hammered seven sixes and six fours as Karachi Blues reached a modest target of 105 in only nine overs at the PCB Academy Ground.
The day’s run-getters were Hyderabad, who amassed 333 for seven against Lahore Shalimar with opening batsman Noor Din making 149 off 135 deliveries. His unbeaten knock was embellished with 11 fours and four sixes.Wicket-keeper/batsman Mohammad Awais was, however, chiefly responsible for taking Hyderabad past the 300-run mark with a blazing 71 that came off only 33 balls and included nine boundaries and three sixes.
Lahore Shalimar made a spirited chase for the daunting target but fell 45 runs short despite good contributions from Imran Ali (71 off 53 balls, four fours and two sixes), Mohammad Saad (60 off 77 balls, seven boundaries) and Hafiz Aamir (59 off 52 balls, four fours and two sixes).
In other matches, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Lahore Ravi all scored identical victories by six wickets each, while Sialkot beat Multan by five wickets.
