HYDERABAD: Sindh AG tasked to probe SAU crisis
HYDERABAD, Sept 5: Sindh’s advocate-general has been made inquiry officer to probe into the affairs of Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam.
Sindh Governor and Chancellor of universities, Dr Ishratul Ibad announced the appointment of Advocate-General Yousuf Leghari to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
Advocate-general when contacted by phone confirmed his appointment and said that he will visit the university on Saturday.
However, the varsity remained closed as the protest movement launched by employees for the removal of Vice Chancellor Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh completed its 63rd day on Friday.
Employees staged a protest demonstration at the campus which was addressed by the leaders of Employees Action Committee, Hussain Veesar, Karam Ali Punhoon, Abdul Majeed Shah Rashidi and others.
They said that the employees will stage a long march on September 8 and publish a white paper on alleged malpractices of the vice-chancellor. They welcomed the inquiry by the advocate-general and said that they would cooperate with him and furnish documentary proof against the vice -chancellor to Mr Laghari.
TEST RESULT: Isra University has announced the result of test for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
According to the announcement, interviews of successful candidates will be held from Sept 9 to 24 and they will be notified about exact date and time of interview, individually by mail. Interview schedule has also been posted on the notice board of the university.
Candidates have been advised to contact admission office of the university for further information.
VISIT: Vice-Chancellor, Sindh University Mazharul Haq Siddiqui paid surprise visits to different departments and institutes on Friday.
He visited classes and seminar libraries of Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, Institute of English Language and Literature, departments of Sindhi, Economics, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Administration, Urdu, Sociology, Anthropology and Archaeology.
