PARACHINAR: Six killed in Kurram

PARACHINAR, Sept 9: Six people were killed and 11 others injured in fresh clashes between rival tribes as the tribal force (Lashkar) set the house of a Taliban commander on fire in the Kurram Agency on Tuesday.

The fighting between the Turi and Bangash tribes continued despite FC personnel’s manning of posts and their taking positions in bunkers at different points, and announcement of ceasefire by the rival groups.

The tribal Lashkar torched several militants’ hideouts, including the house of Taliban commander Fazal Shah, in lower Kurram near the border with Afghanistan.

A spokesman for the tribal force said a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, explosives and important documents had been recovered in the Bagzai area, adding the seized material would be presented before the media soon.

The two sides used heavy weapons, including mortar and rockets against each other, sources said.

The paramilitary forces have taken position in Sadda, Balishkhel, Khar Kalley, and Sangina, but sporadic clashes still continue. —Correspondent
