Traffic warden dismissed, arrested: Fake matric certificate

GUJRANWALA, Sept 13: A traffic warden on Saturday was dismissed from service and arrested for allegedly producing his fake matriculation certificate at the time of his recruitment.

Warden Shahzad Amjad Ali produced his matriculation certificate at the time of his recruitment. The Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education checked it and found it fake.

As a result, Chief Traffic Officer Najeeb Akram Maun dismissed Ali from service. Maun also fined 28 traffic wardens for inefficiencies and absence from duty.

FIVE SUSPENDED: District Coordination Officer Dr Pervaiz Ahmad Khan suspended three health officials from service over absence from duty.

Mr Khan received complaints that Mandiala Warraich basic health unit officials were always found absent from duty and patients were facing problems because of their absence.

He paid a surprise visit to the basic health unit and found centre incharge Dr Yousaf Khan, dispenser Rafiq and lady health visitor Tanzeela absent from duty.

He suspended them from service and issued them show cause notices.

The DCO visited basic health units in Aimanabad and Kamoki and found health officials on their duty. He also visited two union councils in the same town and suspended their secretaries from service because of their absence from duty.

VEHICLES IMPOUNDED: The regional transport authority impounded more than 70 public transport vehicles for violation of traffic laws, but police released most of these vehicles without imposing any fine on them after taking bribe from transport owners.

As a result, RTA Secretary Abdul Ghafoor Chaudhry appealed to DIG Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema to take stern action against police officials for releasing these vehicles without any authority.
