Bid to smuggle 3.7kg heroin foiled

RAWALPINDI, Sept 17: The Anti-Narcotics Force staff on Wednesday foiled an attempt to smuggle 3.7 kg of heroin to Dubai through Pakistan International Airline cargo and arrested three persons in this connection, the authorities said.

Deputy Director ANF, Major Fayyaz Hussain said the checking of luggage was in progress at PIA cargo at Benazir Bhutto International Airport when the ANF staff intercepted a vegetable consignment being sent to Dubai and recovered fine quality heroin concealed in the packing of vegetable.

The names of the three persons taken into custody by the ANF are being withheld.

ROBBERIES: Three unidentified robbers on Tuesday struck at a grocery store in Satellite Town and snatched away Rs40,000, and calling cards valuing Rs10,000 at gunpoint, police said.

Jhandad Khan, the owner of the store complained to the police that two persons entered his store at about 10.30 pm and pulled out their pistols. He said the robbers snatched the cash and calling cards and sped away on their motorcycle after locking the door from outside.

Amjad Latif lost Rs 180,000 when some burglars broke into his house in Westridge.
