No-trust move passed against Daska naib nazim
SIALKOT, Sept 20: The Daska tehsil council again passed on Saturday a no-confidence motion against naib nazim Muhammad Imran Butt of the PML-Q with a convincing majority during a special session held on the directives of the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Tehsil Nazim Haji Nasir Mehmood Cheema told reporters that 34 members out of the 41-member house voted in favour of the no-confidence motion while six opposed it. One member of the house, however, remained absent.
Earlier, a no-trust motion was passed against Imran Butt around six months ago but during his absence.
He challenged the no-trust proceedings in the LHC and the court ordered the tehsil council to hold voting on the motion afresh.
CASE: On the directives of LHC, the Muradpur police have registered a case against its SHO, Inspector Malik Nadeem, and four policemen for kidnapping a 60-year-old man from Gujranwala, keeping him in illegal detention and demanding Rs500,000 gratification for his release.
The police also threatened his family that the man would be killed in a fake shootout if gratification was not paid.
Through a writ petition, victim’s family informed the LHC that the police had raided their house in Gujranwala to arrest Asghar Ali for his alleged involvement in any case.
The police did not find Asghar and instead arrested his elderly father Ghulam Nabi and took him to the police station where he was detained and tortured.
The Muradpur police have started investigations.
