RAWALPINDI, Sept 22: A bailiff appointed by the district and sessions judge here on Monday recovered a man from the unlawful confinement of the Chontra police, promoting the judge to summon the SHO on Friday along with the relevant record.

The bailiff, Malik Lal, in his report stated that he found Mohammad Siddique chained to a charpoy in the Chakbeli post of the Chontra police without any case or complaint registered against him.

Judge Attaullah Kausar handed over the man to Munir Hussain, the complainant, against temporary bail and directed them to be present in the court on the next hearing date.Munir, the nephew of the detainee, in his petition filed in the court said his uncle had been in illegal custody of the Chakbeli police since September 16 though there was no criminal case against him.

The police in reply to the bailiff said an FIR was registered against Javaid Sabir, another nephew of Siddique, on the charges of giving away a bogus cheque and the man was detained to arrest the main accused in the case.

Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ghulam Mehdi Khan issued the arrest warrants of a District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital doctor and attached his salary for not appearing in the court.

The judge issued the non-bailable arrest warrants of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Mohammad Ashraf and directed the district accounts officer to attach the monthly salary of the doctor for not appearing in the court to record his statement in a murder case registered with R.A. Bazaar Police last year. His non-appearance had been causing inordinate delay in the proceedings in the case.

The court directed the police to arrest the doctor and produce him before the court after he did not turn up on Monday, though the court had issued his bailable arrest warrants.

In another murder case, the parents of the deceased forgave the alleged killer and an additional district and sessions judge acquitted him in the case.

Judge Malik Mohammad Iqbal acquitted Abdul Hameed of the charges of killing Humayun on March 17 after a quarrel at the truck terminal in Rawat. The accused was booked for murder but was on Monday forgiven by the parents of the deceased.
