Girl killed by Indian firing

ISLAMABAD, Sept 22: Pakistan accused India of killing a girl in firing on Monday across the two countries’ de facto border in Kashmir.

Indian Brig Gopala Krishnan Mural responded that the charge was “baseless”.

He accused Pakistan-backed militants of infiltrating into India and triggering a gunbattle that left several of the insurgents dead. He gave no more details.

Pakistan army spokesman Major Murad Khan said Indian troops fired across the de facto border, called the Line of Control, in Rawla Kot, killing a girl he identified as Rania.

Maj Khan said Pakistani troops then fired back.

“We also lodged a strong protest over the incident,” he said.—AP
