Cops booked in murder case

MIRPURKHAS, Sept 25: A murder case was registered against the officials of Town police station on Thursday on the directives of Sindh High Court, Hyderabad.

The case pertains to the killing of Ahmed Khan Dal in an alleged police torture on June 15.

Mohammed Ismail Dal, resident of Deh 113, taluka Hussain Bux Mari, lodged the murder case under section 302, 109 and 34 PPC with Old Mirpur police stating that the deceased Ahmed Khan on the morning of June 15 was working at his agriculture land when ASI Roshan Leghari of town police station, constables Qasim Narejo, Nawaz Narejo, Ali Khan Narejo and Ghulam Haider Narejo arrived in a police van and a motorcycle and began hitting Ahmed Khan Dal with gun butts.

Complainant said that he even asked the ASI Roshan Leghari as to why he was torturing the poor man. The SHO town Mohammed Ayoub Dars then ordered his men to bring

Mohammed Ismail stated that he learnt from the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital sources that the ASI Roshan Leghari and other police officials brought the body of Ahmed Khan to the Civil Hospital the same morning.

Mohammed Ismail along with other relatives visited the mortuary and saw visible torture marks on legs and back of the body.

He further alleged that the intervention of influential people was inhibiting the doctors in providing actual post-mortem report.

An application was submitted in the Sindh High Court Circuit Bench Hyderabad for registration of a murder case.

Heirs of the deceased urged the higher authorities to hand over investigation of murder case to an impartial and reputed police officer, instead of the present investigative officer ASI Abdul Hafeez Arain who was closely associated with accused police officials.
