PESHAWAR: Afghan envoy not recovered yet, say police

PESHAWAR, Sept 30: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mohammad Suleman has said that the police were clueless about the whereabouts of the kidnapped Afghan ambassador-designate.

Talking to the media here on Tuesday, he said that some media outlets had claimed the recovery of the ambassador-designate but the police were not aware of it. He said they would ask the media where they had seen the abducted diplomat. He said the envoy had yet not been recovered and when they find him, “we would inform the nation in this regard”.

CCPO Suleman said that the police’s determination would never be downed by the destructive perception of the ‘evil’ elements and they would always stand guard to provide security to the common people in the society. He claimed that the police was a clean profession.—PPI

Our Peshawar Bureau adds: CCPO Suleman distributed one-day salary of police personnel among the heirs of killed and injured personnel of the police and Frontier Constabulary. The personnel had given sacrifices during a bomb blast at Zangali checkpost on Kohat Road.

The relatives of those died were given Rs150,000 and Rs50,000 to the injured. The cheques were distributed in a ceremony held at Malik Saad Khan Police Lines. It was largely attended by heirs of the victims and police personnel.

Speaking on the occasion, the CCPO paid rich tributes to those who were killed in the incident, saying that they had sacrificed their lives to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. Their sacrifices would not be forgotten, he said, adding that they laid their lives for the sake of the nation, country and saved Peshawar from destruction.

Heroin seized: City police claimed to have arrested a woman and recovered 33 kilograms of heroin from her possession in Hayatabad Township.

A spokesman for the police said that accused Naseema, resident of Kaga Wala, was coming from the tribal area, in a car, when she was arrested. She was allegedly taking the heroin to Punjab.

Meanwhile, two accused Hidayat and Abdul Khaliq, wanted to Nasir Bagh police, were also arrested. Police recovered two Kalashnikovs, one Kalakov and 10 pistols from the accused.
