HYDERABAD: Minister confident of economic revival

HYDERABAD, Oct 3: Federal Finance Minister Syed Naveed Qamar has pledged to steer the country out of economic crisis with the cooperation of the people.

He predicted that very soon the country would witness a new era of development. The minister expressed these view while talking to the newsmen and guests who called on him at his residence here on Eid.

Mr Qamar said that it was the first Eid of the leaders and workers of the Pakistan People’s Party after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, therefore the party leadership had decided to celebrate Eid in a simple manner.

The vision and courage of Benazir Bhutto remained in the hearts of the party leaders and workers and it was due to that very reason that the party leadership with the support of the masses had defeated anti-democratic forces and restored democracy in the country in its true form, the minister said.

He said that the country was facing multiple internal and external issues and the government had prepared an effective strategy to steer the country out of economic crisis and to push it towards prosperity.

The government would not disappoint the people who had expressed their confidence in the PPP leadership, the minister said.

He said that problems including price-hike, load-shedding, shortage of wheat and unemployment would be resolved soon as the government had initiated concrete measures in this regard.—APP

Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds: Pakistan People’s Party MNA Mir Munawwar Ali Talpur has said that trade between Pakistan and India via Khokhrapar-Munabao will be a gift for the people of Sindh and Rajasthan.

Talking to people who visited his village to exchange eid greetings, he said that bottlenecks in launching Thar coal power project have been removed by the government.

Mr Talpur said that the government was committed to giving importance to agriculture sector and in this context small industrial units would be set-up to improve the living standard of the people.

He said that an airport was being set up at Islamkot for easy access to Thar coal and meter gauge rail track from Mirpurkhas to Naukot will be upgraded to broad gauge.

He said that work on gas supply to Kot Ghulam Mohammad and Samaro will soon start and later on Umerkot will also be provided gas.

Answering a question, he said that on the demand of people, a park will be set up at Umerkot. He said that the delayed work on Marvi stadium should be expedited.

He said that for poverty alleviation, hard working, intelligent, brilliant and poor students would be sent abroad for higher education and jobs.
