THATTA: PPP pursuing Musharraf’s policies: JI leader

THATTA, Oct 3: Jamaat-i-Islami Naib Amir Liaquat Baloch has said the pursuance of its predecessors’ policies by the present government has resulted in desperation and sense of deprivation in the country.

He was talking to journalists here at the residence of Adam Gandhro, where he had arrived to condole the death of Islami Jamiat Tulaba activist Osama Gandhro who was killed in an armed clash at Karachi University.

Mr Baloch said it is a matter of shame that the American army was engaged in carnage in the tribal areas of Pakistan while Pakistan Army was ruthlessly killing people in Balochistan, Swat and other areas of the country.

He said Pakistan’s reputation had taken a nosedive throughout the world due to foreign intervention in its territorial limits. He said on the pretext of 9/11, the USA was blackmailing its allies and penetrated into the borders of the country, hence the country required a change in the foreign policy to rebuild the confidence of its people.

He Said that PPP was a democratic party and enjoying rule in the country, particularly in Sindh, where it had an overwhelming majority but regretted that the party had opted to sit with the “terrorists and killers.”

He alleged the MQM was not only involved in the killing of JI activists but also in the killing of PPP activists.

Mr Baloch contended that right from the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan to that of Benazir Bhutto, none of the assassin could be exposed and now the rulers themselves were not safe from the terrorists.—BoC
