HYDERABAD: Fahim hails president’s US visit

HYDERABAD, Oct 3: The senior vice-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, MNA Makhdoom Mohammad Amin Fahim, has expressed his satisfaction over the recent foreign visit of President Asif Ali Zardari.

He said that the president had represented the country in the UN’s General Assembly in an effective manner.

Talking to visitors and media people who visited him at his residence in Hala to exchange Eid greetings, Mr Fahim said that President Asif Ali Zardari was not on an official visit to the US, but was invited by the United Nations to address its General Assembly, where he also held satisfactory meetings with various American think- tanks.

Mr Fahim said that on one hand the country was facing external challenges while on the other price hike, unemployment, load-shedding and law and order situation had made lives of the people miserable and there was a need for making effective decisions to steer the country out of these internal and external crises.

The PPP leader dispelled the impression of having any differences with the president. He said that the PPP was the largest political party of the country wherein every one had the right to express his opinion. He said he was a part of the PPP and could not think of leaving the party, which had rendered great sacrifices for the restoration of democracy in the country.

Answering a question, Mr Fahim said that the government had taken serious notice of the attacks of foreign forces in the tribal areas and had initiated effective steps to combat terrorism.

Responding to another question, he said that the coalition between the PPP and PML (N) in Punjab was still intact where the government of both the parties was striving for the welfare of the people.—APP
