Kaira doubts PML-N sincerity

GUJRAT, Oct 3: Punjab Finance Minister Chaudhry Tanveer Ashraf Kaira has expressed doubts over the sincerity of the PML-N in keeping coalition with the PPP intact.

“The PML-N’s inclination towards the Q-League’s forward bloc and persistent non-cooperation with the PPP are enough to prove its insincerity. The PPP is, however, still firm in honouring the PML-N mandate,” he told Dawn at his residence in Lalamusa. PPP district president Tahir Zaman Kaira and former member of district council (Gujrat) Akram Kaira were also present.

He said the PPP had presented some conditions to the chief minister for the continuity of the coalition and the main of those were that the PML-N should end contacts with the PML-Q forward bloc. And the PPP should be given its due (forty per cent) share in the provincial cabinet according to the already settled formula and the uplift funds must be issued to all the members of the Punjab Assembly without any discrimination.

“The PML-N has not disconnected itself from the forward bloc and is yet to accept many other conditions as well,” said Mr Kaira.

When asked about his party’s course of action in case of disqualification of Shahbaz Sharif from court, he said the PPP had already completed its homework to cope with the situation and bring its own chief minister in Punjab.

The PPP would get support of over 80 per cent of the PML-Q members of the Punjab Assembly whether the Chaudhrys of Gujrat supported the PPP or not.
