11 booked for ‘humiliating’ doctors, blocking road

GUJRANWALA, Oct 4: Police on Saturday booked at least 11 people for allegedly humiliating doctors of Divisional Headquarters Hospital and blocking GT Road over the death of a young woman.

Young Rukhsana was injured in a road accident and was taken to the divisional hospital in a critical condition. She was given emergency aid and taken to Mayo Hospital in Lahore, where she died. Later, her relatives allegedly barged in the hospital and humiliated doctors and paramedical staff. They said divisional hospital doctors were responsible for Rukhsana’s death and raised slogans against them. They blocked GT Road and hospital road and threw the traffic out of gear. Police reached the scene and dispersed them.

DHQ Deputy Medical Superintendent Mirza Jamil said Rukhsana’s relatives forcibly took her to Lahore and added that divisional hospital doctors were not responsible for her death.

FOUR KILLED: Four people, including two brothers, were killed in three road accidents on Sialkot Road on Saturday.

Brothers Rizwan (21) and Usman (19) were going to Butteranwali village by their motorcycle to meet their relatives. Their bike collided with a car near the village and both of them died at the scene.

Separately, Muhammad Boota was doing a wheelie on his motorcycle on Sialkot Road when he lost his balance and his bike rammed into a roadside tree. He died on his way to a nearby hospital.

Muhammad Azam was run over by a vehicle when he was crossing Sheikhupura Road. He died at the scene.

GASTRO: As many as 25 people suffering from gastroenteritis were admitted to Wazirabad Tehsil Headquarters Hospital on Saturday, it is learnt.

The disease has hit Wazirabad city and villages around Chenab Bela. Doctors say contaminated water is the cause of the disease and advise patients to drink boiled water only.
