HYDERABAD: Woman’s appeal

HYDERABAD, Oct 6: A primary school teacher has appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari to direct the relevant authorities to shift her ailing husband to the Civil Hospital for medical treatment.

Her husband has been languishing in the Central Jail, Hyderabad for the past two years.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Monday, Razi Laghari, mother of three children, alleged that her husband, Qurban Laghari, who was a clerk in the office of the DPO Badin, had been implicated in a murder case by the Market police.Ms Laghari said that prior to Qurban’s arrest; he had received bullet wounds in his abdomen during a wedding function and his spinal cord was also seriously damaged for which he had to undergo a surgery.

She said that her husband’s condition had deteriorated in the jail but the jail authorities had refused to move him to the hospital for treatment. She alleged that the reason behind their refusal was her inability to bribe them.

The school teacher claimed that her husband was administered wrong injections in the jail hospital.

“I have submitted many applications even in court for the medical treatment of my husband but no action has been taken in the matter,” she said. She alleged that corruption was at its peak in the central jail and warned that if any harm came to her husband, she would file a murder case against the DIG prison and jail superintendent.

She said that she had spent all her savings of 16 years during the last two years.

She appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari and other political leaders to help her out of this problem and to ensure proper medical treatment for her husband. She also accused a couple of lawyers, representing the opposite party, of misbehaving with her.
