HYDERABAD: Seed processing plants to work round the clock

HYDERABAD, Oct 7: The managing director of the Sindh Seed Corporation, Gul Hassan Saand, has directed the relevant officials of the corporation to keep the central seed processing plant, Sakrand and 11 other plants operational round-the-clock to ensure supply of 100,000 tons of certified wheat seeds to the growers.

He issued these directives during a meeting with the corporation officials after a visit to the corporation’s farm in Sakrand on Tuesday.

Mr Saand said that main aim of the corporation was to supply certified seed to the farmers on time. He firmly said that the target would be achieved under all circumstances. He also inspected cotton crop on the corporation’s Pai farm.

He said that the corporation would cultivate wheat on 2,600 acres of its farms to get maximum seed yield. He issued instructions for the repair of Sakrand seed processing plant as well as for increasing its storage capacity.

AILING POET: Expressing concern over the illness of noted poet Ahmed Khan Madhosh, Sindh Education Minister and Sindhi Adabi Board Chairman Pir Mazharul Haq has directed the board’s officials to arrange for the medical treatment of the poet immediately.

In pursuance of these instructions, the board’s secretary, Prof Syed Zawar Naqvi, has arranged for admission of the poet to a hospital. Prof Naqvi said that according to doctors, who examined the poet, his condition was satisfactory.

Pir Mazhar also ordered that all expenses of the poet’s medical treatment would be borne by the government.
