Pakistan contingent leaves for India today

KARACHI, Oct 8: A 24-member Pakistan contingent is scheduled to leave for Pune via Mumbai by a PIA flight on Thursday morning to feature in the Commonwealth Youth Games which runs from Oct 12 to 18.

Pakistan will compete in five disciplines, namely table tennis, swimming, athletics, wrestling and weightlifting.

Officials and players of the upcountry arrived in the city on Wednesday night and were lodged at the PSB Coaching Centre.

Those arrived include chef-de-mission Mohammad Anwar Khan, joint secretary, Ministry of Sports, secretary-cum-treasurer Syed Abrar Hussain

Shah and contingent doctor Meesaq Rizvi.

Director of the PSB coaching Centre, Zulfiqar Abro, hosted a dinner in honour of the Pakistan contingent.

Contingent:

Table Tennis: Salman Virk, Ayesha Khan. Official: Arif Khan (manager).

Swimming: Mazhar Naqvi, Shahbaz Khan, Aqsa Tariq, Hoor Israr. Official: Mohammad Zafar (manager).

Athletics: Farhan Ahmed, Mohammad Asif Javed. Official: Khalid Farooq Akbar (manager).

Weightlifting: Abu Sufyan, Umar Rasool Lone, Ali Shah Cheema, Azhar Amir. Official: Qaiser Iftikhar (manager).

Wrestling: Salamat Ali, Aslam Pervez, Mohammad Shaukat Mushtaq, Ali Haider. Official: Ghulam Reza Moazen (manager).
