HYDERABAD: Dist govt spending 65pc budget on education: nazim

HYDERABAD, Oct 17: The district government has decided to spend 65 per cent of its budget on education sector for providing quality education to all, said District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil. He said that over 200 Sindhi and Urdu medium schools have been converted into English medium to bring students at par with those of private institutions.

He said this while talking to a delegation of parents who called on him at his secretariat on Friday. Parents thanked him for providing free of cost textbooks, stationery and school bags to students. They also appreciated Nazim’s endeavor in converting school into English medium as nowhere in the country such steps had been taken. Nazim informed the parents that they were free to call on telephone no: 1334, if and when they find a fault in the system.

District Nazim said that improvement can only be brought about through collective efforts, therefore all stakeholders must strive for the betterment of educational standards.

GIS: District Nazim warned of action against contractors failing to complete development schemes on schedule or found using substandard material. He was speaking at a weekly meeting to review the progress of development schemes.

Water Technologist Dr Mohammad Ehsan Siddiqui, General Mana-ger Geographical Information System (GIS) of a private company and others attended the meeting.

The nazim said the GIS must be made operational by October 31 for providing information on education, health, property, water supply and sewerage system, parks, playgrounds etc., to general public.
