Premnagar dry port to be ready by June

LAHORE, Oct 18: Pakistan Railways (PR) Chairman Muhammad Kashif Murtaza on Saturday reviewed the pace of work on Premnagar Dry Port project being constructed over 100 acres of land near Raiwind.

The dry port is being constructed by Mercantile Services (Private) Limited and Qasim International Terminal Limited under an agreement with PR to start their freight cargo services from the port. Traffic Additional General Manager(GM) Mehmood Rashid, Project Director Muhammad Saleem, Divisional Superintendent Mubeenuddin and representatives of the two companies were also present.

The PR chairman said the dry port, to be operational by June 2009, would be very beneficial for the people of the area.

He directed the marketing director to prepare a plan for the construction of a commercial plaza, a hotel and other facilities on the 13-acre railways land along the road at the dry port.

Later, he chaired a meeting of the executive committee at the PR Headquarters which reviewed matters pertaining to train operations and administrative affairs. — APP
