FIFA chief to attend first Palestinian game

GENEVA, Oct 18: FIFA President Sepp Blatter will travel to the Palestinian territories next week where he will attend the first international match to be played by the national side, football’s world governing body said on Friday.

The four-day visit starts next Saturday in Jordan, where Blatter will meet Prince Faisal Bin Al-Hussein before visiting the headquarters of the Jordan Football Association.

Blatter travels to the Palestinian territories on Sunday when he will watch an international friendly between the Palestine team and Jordan, also the first match to be played in the Palestinian territories at the Ram stadium near Bethlehem in the West Bank.

Also on his schedule are meetings with President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.

The FIFA chief ends his visit in Israel where he will participate in the inauguration of the Peres Peace House, as well as of FIFA-funded football pitches.
