HYDERABAD: Call to conduct admission test again

HYDERABAD, Oct 19: Pakistan People’s Party MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur has said he has received innumerable complaints about irregularities, corruption, favouritism and nepotism in the test for admission to MBBS and BDS at the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences and appealed to authorities to annul the test.

The MNA said in a press statement that he had received reports that a select number of candidates were provided copying material and entry slips many candidates were not checked, creating a possibility for impostors to make their way into the test venue and take test for somebody else.

He pointed out that delay in displaying the result on the university’s website had also strengthened suspicions. As a practice, the test result was always displayed on the website the very next day not it was done this time.

Our Mithi correspondent adds: A large number of Thari students held a sit-in outside the Mithi press club on Sunday after appearing in the test for admission to MBBS and protested against what they called large-scale irregularities in the conduct of the test.

Jitesh, Naresh, Amit, Metharam and Manoj demanded that the test be re-conducted. They said there was no adequate seating arrangement for the candidates and there was no visible check on copying and use of mobile phone at the Hyderabad centre.

Talking to journalists on phone, MNA Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, appealed to the governor of Sindh and the chief minister to take notice of alleged irregularities, which would most likely deprive a large number of talented Thari students of admission to medical colleges.

Mr Malani supported the students’ demand for re-holding the test.
