Pakistani team inspects Baglihar dam

NEW DELHI, Oct 20: A three-member Pakistani delegation headed by Indus Water Commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah on Monday inspected the Baglihar dam in Occupied Kashmir’s Jammu region and collected data of water inflow, outflow and storage capacity of the dam.

Indian officials said Pakistani team inspected the dam for five hours and recorded water levels, outflows and capacity of storage.

The Indian team headed by Water Commissioner G. Ranganathan accompanied the Pakistani team.Mr Shah told his Indian counterparts during the inspection that according to the Indus Water Treaty, 55,000 cusecs of water should flow into Pakistan, but it had received 2,200 cusecs only.

The Pakistani team will return to New Delhi on Tuesday evening to hold talks with the Indian officials to sort out the issue of blocking Chenab water by India.—APP
