Six Muslims killed in Thai south

NARATHIWAT (Thailand), Oct 21: Six people have been killed and five wounded in a spate of attacks by separatist rebels across the insurgency-hit south of Thailand, police said on Tuesday.

In Narathiwat province on Monday evening, two men aged 45 and 22 were killed and five of their friends wounded when militants opened fire on the pick-up truck they were travelling in, local police said. Elsewhere in the same province that night, a 35-year-old man was killed in a drive-by shooting.

In nearby Pattani province on Monday evening, a 38-year-old man and two women aged 30 and 35 were killed, police said.

All the victims of Monday’s violence were Muslims.—AFP
