KHAIRPUR: Shopkeepers fined

KHAIRPUR, Oct 22: Seven shopkeepers were fined and sentenced to seven days in prison for selling flour on higher prices here on Tuesday.

In response to a general complaint of sale of wheat flour at higher rates, the District Officer (Revenue)/Special Judicial Magistrate Khairpur Kaiser Saleem along with Deputy District Officer (Revenue)/SJM Khairpur and Mukhtiarkar (Revenue) raided different shops in the city.

They found seven shopkeepers selling wheat flour at Rs30 to Rs31 per kilogram as against the government fixed rates of Rs24.50 per kg.

The shopkeepers including Mohammad Fazal, Satieh, Raj Kumar, and Jardas were fined Rs10,000 each and sample imprisonment of seven days. In case of default in payment, they would have to further undergo seven days sample imprisonment.

Three other shopkeepers were fined Rs5,000 each or sample imprisonment of seven days in case of default in payment of fine.
