HARIPUR: Doctor stabbed ‘for charging heavy fee’

HARIPUR, Oct 29: An angry ‘patient’ stabbed and injured a physician allegedly for overcharging him, police and hospital staff told here on Wednesday.

City Police quoted Dr Aslam Jehangiri, the managing director of a private hospital located at Grand Trunk Road Haripur as saying that he was examining the patients at his hospital when a young man walked in and complained that he was suffering from stomach problem.

When, Dr Aslam started his physical examination, the alleged attacker ‘disguised’ as a patient attacked him with a knife injuring him seriously.

The man was later overpowered by the hospital staff and handed over to the police.

The condition of the doctor was reportedly out of danger.

The police have registered a case against the accused for attempting to murder the physician. The accused confessed his crime before the police citing the reason of attacking the doctor.

He told the police that he attacked the doctor because the doctor used to charge heavy consultation fee from patients.
