PML-N vows to back lawyers
RAWALPINDI, Oct 31: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will continue supporting the lawyers for restoration of judiciary and will fully participate in their protest on November 3 to mark it as a black day.
All essential measures would be adopted by the provincial government to provide security to deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry during his visit to the district courts to address a convention.This was stated by PML-N Punjab general secretary Raja Ashfaq Sarwar while speaking at a press conference at the Punjab House on Friday.
Besides others, PML-N city president Shaheen Khan, MPAs Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal and Raja Fiaz Sarwar and former MPA Sardar Nasim were also present on the occasion.He said the PML-N would not change its stance on the freedom of judiciary and would continue struggle till the restoration of Justice Iftikhar.
He said some 12 camps would be set up by PML-N workers on Benazir Bhutto Road during the visit of the deposed CJP to the district courts.
He said the PML-N appreciated the services of atomic scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan who made the country’s defence impregnable.
In reply to a question, he claimed that corruption of Rs620 million was unearthed by the Punjab government in 62 districts during an audit of the local bodies so far.
He said party chief Nawaz Sharif had ruled out the possibility of an alliance with the Chaudhry brothers except those who did not harm the party cause.
He said his party in collaboration with the business community and some philanthropists of the city would hand over 50 trucks carrying medicines, blankets, edibles and other basic daily-use items to the Balochistan government for the earthquake victims.
