Police avoiding arrest of attack accused, say teachers

LARKANA, Oct 31: The teaching staff of the Government Degree College, Ratodero, took out a procession in the town on Friday to protest against police failure in arresting the students who had recently attacked the principal and a lecturer of the college.

Principal Professor Mumtaz Solangi and Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association leader Malhar Sindhi led the procession which began from the college and ended at the local press club. The participants were raising slogans against the indifferent attitude of the Ratodero police.

They alleged that the police were deliberately avoiding arrest of those nominated in two FIRs and added that it had intensified sense of insecurity prevailing among the teachers.

They said that their protest would continue till the arrest of the accused and announced that they would boycott practical (viva-voce) examinations of BSc-I and II in protest.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfikar Mirza held a meeting with police officers of Larkana district.

Speaking at a press conference at the conclusion of the meeting, he said that lists of black sheep in police department were being prepared and action against them would be initiated soon.

He warned that those policemen who supported criminals would not go escort free and cited the example of suspension of police inspector Mukhtiar Sariyo in Karachi on Friday.
