KARACHI: Two men shot dead
KARACHI, Nov 2: Two young men, including a college student, were shot dead on Sunday, police and witnesses said.
The New Karachi police said that 20-year-old Waqar Siddiqui, son of Ghaus Siddiqui, was on way to his Sector 11-L residence when he was intercepted by two dacoits on a motorcycle. They said the dacoits opened fire on the victim as he struggled with them.
The witnesses said that the victim stopped his motorcycle near Modern Complex to receive a call on his mobile phone. He was talking on the phone when the bandits approached him.
The victim tried to run away leaving his bike behind, they said. However, the bandits opened fire on him resulting in his instant death, the witnesses added.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem examination. Sources in the medico-legal section said the victim had received two bullets in his upper torso from a close range as the bullets pierced through his body.
On the complaint of the victim’s father, a case (FIR 251/2008) was registered against unidentified bandits.
In Model Colony, a printing press worker was shot dead.
Police said Saifur Rahman, 32, was going in his car when armed men held him hostage at gunpoint.
They took him to Gole Ground near his house before killing him. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.
Hospital sources said the victim received multiple bullet wounds in his upper torso.
No case had been registered so far as the victim’s family were still busy in funeral arrangements, the police said, adding that the incident seemed to be motivated by some personal enmity.
