HYDERABAD: School student killed in clash with classmates

HYDERABAD, Nov 3: A student of class-VIII was murdered outside government Iqra high school during a scuffle with his classmates and an outsider within the jurisdiction of Hali Road police station here on Monday. The assailant escaped.

Moeen Khan Gaddi, a resident of Al-Waheed colony, was made monitor of his class today. A brawl took place between him and other class-mates in the school. His classmates, reports said, were angry over him for reporting their names for punishment for indiscipline. After school timing, they again clashed.

According to area UC nazim Ejaz Sheikh, one Farhan, who works at a nearby hair-dresser’s shop, backed Moeen’s rivals. He said that students were separated by people of the locality. But another scuffle took place in which Farhan brought scissors from the shop and attacked Moeen on left side of his chest, causing a wound in his heart.

The boy died on his way to hospital. He denied that Farhan was deceased’s class-mate.

The incident caused tension in the area, dominated by Gaddi community. Shops were closed. Angry people damaged the hair-dresser’s shop and attacked his home.

According to Hali Road police, the family of Farhan was not available and his house was found locked when police arrived there to pick him up. No FIR was lodged with the Hali Road police. The boy has been laid to rest in the area’s graveyard. Police have detained the hair-dresser, Munna.
