‘Cabinet expansion a burden on economy’
LAHORE, Nov 3: Jamaat-i- Islami Amir Qazi Husain Ahmad has described the induction of 40 ministers into the federal cabinet as an undue burden on national economy.
In a press statement issued here on Monday, he said there was no justification for induction of new ministers into the federal cabinet at a time when the government was approaching the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a loan to tide over the economic crisis. The industries and businesses were shutting down and people were unable to purchase flour and pay utility bills. The IMF loan would be spent on meeting the expenditure of the expanded cabinet, he said.
He also criticised the government for refusing to restore Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and other deposed judges. He said the rulers were not restoring the judges because they could take notice of corruption. The movement for the restoration of judges would, however, continue till all judges were restored, he said. — Reporter
