HYDERABAD, Nov 4: Jamiat-i-Ulema Pakistan president Dr Mohammad Zubair has criticised rulers for inducting more ministers in the already huge federal cabinet, which he says, will be an extra and unnecessary burden on the national exchequer.

Mr Zubair said in a press statement that the army of ministers and advisers was taken on foreign tours at a cost of millions of rupees, which the government recovered from people in shape of frequent increases in tariff on gas, electricity, LPG and prices of flour and petroleum products.

He said that on the one hand the government complained about national kitty being empty and on the other the president had hinted at accepting tougher IMF conditions for loan, which risked compromising national integrity.

“The country is being mortgaged to the enemy whereas the poor are selling their loved ones to get a loaf of bread,” he said and added that incidents of suicide were on the rise and there was no control over lawlessness.

After Karachi, the incidents of bodies stuffed in bags had increased in Hyderabad as the rulers were busy enjoying their luxurious life. Unless rulers brought their unnecessary and non-development expenditures under control the country’s economy would never improve, he stressed.

JI AMIRS: The amir of the Sindh chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami has announced names of party amirs for 22 districts of the province and five districts of Karachi.

They were elected through secret ballot in inter-party polls and their tenure would expire in October 2010.
