HYDERABAD: 932 katchi abadis to be regularised

HYDERABAD, Nov 7: The Sindh government has undertaken the task of regularising 932 katchi abadis with the target to complete 15 such habitations in two months, said provincial Minister for Katchi Abadis Mohammad Rafique engineer.

Speaking to inhabitants of Shah Waliullah katchi abadi on Jamshoro Road on Thursday, he admitted of problems people face as he himself belonged to Lyari which was regularised by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

The PPP government stands committed to providing ‘roti, kapra aur makan’ besides setting up Sasti Basti in each district, he said adding that all except those falling in dangerous zones would be regularised.

The minister asked the people to identify those abadis which did not come under the survey for regularisation.

The minister informed that during his last visit to Hyderabad some 82 katchi abadis were identified for which orders to initiate proceeding for regularisation were issued.

After rejecting Kalabagh Dam, the government launched the Thar Caol Project to exploit black gold reserves for the development of the country instead of pitting people of province against each other by undertaking controversial projects.

Besides, distribution of government land among landless farmers and women, employment was also being provided to youth through Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Income Support Programme and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Programme, he said.

He said the crises of wheat, electricity, and deteriorating law and order were all being done deliberately to defame government.

Sindh Minister for Fisheries, Zahid Ali Bhurgari announced of creation of 100,000 jobs in the Sindh province.

Regarding Qasimabad, he said that the feasibility report on drainage schemes, roads, electricity, water supply and other infrastructure was being prepared for the development under special package of rupees one billion announced by the Sindh Chief Minister.

He praised President Zardari’s efforts in trying to bail the country out of financial crisis.

Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister Rashid Rabbani called the PPP a revolutionary party striving to bring about economic and social revolution.

MNA Syed Ameer Shah Jamote and PPP leader Iqbal Soomro also spoke on the occasion. MPAs Pir Amjad Shah Jilani and Ms Farheen Mughal, President PPP Hyderabad, Amanullah Siyal, member PPP Sindh Council Moula Bux Chandio, Javed Jabbar and other party leaders attended the ceremony.

Later, Sindh minister for katchi abadis presented lease documents to 60 inhabitants of Shah Waliullah Colony.
