THATTA: Council summons health officials
THATTA, Nov 10: The Thatta district council on Monday expressed concern over declining health facilities, particularly the performance of People’s Primary Health Initiative (PPHI) project, and directed the PPHI’s district authorities to attend next session with a comprehensive performance report.
Nazim G.A. Malkani of far-flung Kotih union council in coastal belt complained of the ill-planning and implementation of the PPHI programme because of tackling by the non-technical district head. It had failed in achieving the expected results.
The session was also attended by the District Nazim Thatta, Syed Shafqat Hussain Shah Shirazi who criticised the transfer of teachers to other districts on political ground.
The council was told that a number of development schemes had been suspended due to non-payment to government contractors.
Members also expressed their concern on the delay in payments to teachers appointed under the Volunteer Teachers Education Plan.
It also demanded the release of salaries to 120 NCHD teachers.
The council offered Fateha for the departed soul of late MNA Nasrullah Khan Bijarani, husband of sitting EDO Health, Dr Arifa Tahirani.
