Boy kidnapped from Haripur recovered

VEHARI, Nov 10: A six-year-old boy, who had been kidnapped from Haripur district of the NWFP about one and a half months back, was recovered from Tibba Sultanpur, Vehari on Monday.

Report said Shah Rukh had been kidnapped on Sept 28 from Haripur. Later the kidnappers took him to Nizamabad Town and detained him at a room of a vacant house in Tibba Sultanpur police precincts.

On a tip-off, a Haripur police team, headed by inspector Shahid Mehmood along with child’s father Abdul Waheed conducted a raid, recovered Shah Rukh and arrested alleged captor Shafat Ali of Chak 166/WB, Tibba Sultanpur. Later, Haripur police took the child to his hometown.

Abdul Waheed said he was a resident of sector No-1, street-7, city area of Haripur. On Sept 28, his wife Khalida Bibi was at home when the accused kidnapped his son Shah Rukh.

He claimed that accused Shafat and his relatives were angry with him because he had refused to give evidence in their favour in a case already registered against Shafat at Haripur city area police station.

Inspector Shahid Mehmood said the other accused involved in abduction would be arrested soon. In another incident, a class-II student was kidnapped from Masani Bagh on Monday.

Ejaz Khan, 8, was on his way home from school when someone kidnapped him. Danywal police are looking into the matter.

ROBBERY: Eight dacoits looted a cell phone shop on College Road, Burewala city area on Sunday night.

Reports said the dacoits forcibly entered a cell phone shop, held owner Ali Raza and other staff hostage at gunpoint and made off with valuables worth Rs1.6 million. Police have registered a case.

BALES BURNT: Over 200 cotton bales were reduced to ashes here on Sunday night at a factory on Vehari–Hasilpur Road.

Reports said cotton stock at the factory of Mian Rafique caught fire and over 200 bales were reduced to ashes within one hour. Firefighters controlled the blaze after hectic efforts. The reason for the fire was stated to be a short circuit.
