Body formed to monitor Congo virus

ATTOCK, Nov 21: The district administration has set up an eight-member committee to monitor possible outbreak of Congo fever in the district after the death of a suspected patient on November 17.

The team headed by the EDO health and comprising district livestock officer and all six tehsil municipal officers of Attock has been directed to ensure/monitor cleanliness and animal slaughtering process at all abattoirs to avoid slaughter of any sick animal.

Furthermore, it should be made sure that the butchers wear gloves besides taking other cleanliness measures.

The district administration has taken the measures after the death of a suspected Congo virus patient at Hazro. The deceased, Arshad Mehmood, was a butcher by profession and had been admitted to the local hospital with the complaints of high fever and bleeding from nose and ears. A medical team visited his residence and conducted fumigation at the house and its surrounding areas.
