Jadeed’s hat-trick helps Afghan FC make comeback

LAHORE, Nov 22: In the three Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played on Saturday, Pakistan Television (PTV) suffered yet another defeat when they wasted their first half lead and conceded a hat-trick in the second session to lose 1-3 against Afghan FC at the PSB Ground in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, Army hammered goals in both halves to beat Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) 2-0 at the Army Stadium, Rawalpindi and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), looking to win their first national title in their 13-year history, saw their forward line flopping against the spirited Karachi Port Trust (KPT), to suffer a 1-2 defeat at the KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Chaman-born international striker Jadeed Khan was the hero in the PTV-Afghan FC clash. He turned the tide within 15 minutes in the second half after skipper Naimat Ullah’s 24th minute goal put PTV on the course for their second win. Jadeed drew level in the 61st minute and added two more in the 67th and 76th minute, giving Afghan FC a handsome 3-1 triumph.

KPT leapt to second position in a 14-team table with a 2-1 win over the other pace-setters KRL.

Skipper Naseer Ahmed opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Then, Mohammad Ismail put the issue beyond the home team with a 71st minute goal. The disjointed KRL struck their consolation goal in the final minute through their former skipper and stopper Saeed.—Agencies
