Sri Lanka storm to win at stage 9: Tour de Pakistan

GUJRAT, Nov 26: Sri Lankan contenders paraded their cycling skills and clinched the first three positions in the 9th stage of the 14th Tour de Pakistan here on Wednesday.

A large number of cycling fans standing along GT Road cheered as the cyclists arrived in the city from Lahore. District Nazim Shafaat Husain, District Coordination Officer Sardar Akram Javed and Tehsil Nazim Saadat Nawaz Ajnala received the 42 participants of the Tour.

Sri Lankan cyclist Jewan Manjula secured the first position followed by Mumanga Parera and Sudher Nelanga. The Tehsil Municipal Administration hosted a lunch and the district nazim a dinner for the participants. The DCO dished out cash and prizes to players. Tour participants will leave Gujrat for Rawalpindi on Thursday (today).—Correspondent
