Pollard picked for NZ one-dayers

PORT-OF-SPAIN (Trinidad), Dec 2: Trinidad and Tobago batsman Kieron Pollard has been selected in the West Indies squad for the forthcoming one-day series in New Zealand.

According to the Trinidad & Tobago Express Shaun Findlay and Nikita Miller, the left-arm spinner, will also join the squad but it’s uncertain who they will replace.

Pollard, who also bowls medium pace, helped T&T reach the final of the recently concluded WICB Cup in Guyana with an all-round performance. T&T were the ultimate champions of the tournament.

He made his one-day debut for West Indies in a World Cup game against South Africa last year but has since played only three more matches, the latest being against Australia at the same venue in June.

Findlay and Miller were part of the ODI squad for the three-match series against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi which concluded just before the team departed for New Zealand.

The West Indies play two Twenty20 Internationals before the five-match one-day series commences in Queenstown on Dec 31.—Agencies
