Harbhajan eyes Surrey return

LONDON, Dec 8: Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is in talks with Surrey for a possible return to the English county for the second half of the next season.

David Stewart, Surrey chairman, told a Members’ Forum that the club was in talks with the Indian player for a third stint with the club, which Harbhajan represented in 2005 and 2007.

The revelation came during Stewart’s announcement that the county would plough significant investment into the game.

Now that they have parted ways with Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who had aligned with rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), Surrey would hope the BCCI would not thwart their bid to rope in Harbhajan.—Agencies
