Pakistan always complied with UN decisions: AJK president

MUZAFFARABAD, Dec 13: Azad Kashmir (AJK) President Raja Zulqarnain Khan on Saturday drew international attention towards the difference between the response of Pakistan and other nations to the UN decisions and resolutions.

“Pakistan has instantly complied with the UN decisions regarding some organisations but contrarily it has been awaiting implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir for the past 60 years,” he said.

The president’s remarks were a clear reference to Pakistans swift response to UN sanctions against Jamaatud Dawa and other proscribed outfits.

“The people of Jammu and Kashmir are justified in peacefully protesting against these double standards of the international community,” he said at an event held on the occasion of the 14th death anniversary of Brig (retired) Raja Dilawar in the town of Dadyal.

India, the president regretted, was vitiating the atmosphere of the region by hurling accusations at Pakistan and the Kashmiris without any proof and investigations.

He suggested that Pakistan should send diplomatic delegations across the world to not only counter vicious Indian propaganda but also apprise the international community of the actual situation.

Mr Khan emphasised that the inalienable rights of the Kashmiris must be respected without ado to help them decide their future on their own accord.

“Unless the UN resolutions on Kashmir are implemented, the dream to establish durable peace in South Asia can never come true,” he said.

Accusing India of stopping Chenab waters, AJK President Zulqarnain Khan termed it ‘economic terrorism’ which, he said, had caused huge loss to Pakistan.
