And demos bear fruit in Mianwali

MIANWALI, Dec 15: Much to the chagrin of the fertilizer factory management, District Coordination Officer Wasim Ajmal Chaudhry rises to the occasion and ensures the availability of fertilizer to farmers who were otherwise crying for it.

Farmers had taken out several demonstrations at various places in the district against the black-marketing and shortage of fertilizer during the sowing season, but to no avail.

Taking note of farmers’ protest against the Pak-American fertilizer factory, Iskandarabad, the DCO ordered to stop supply of fertilizer to other districts and impounded nine trailers loaded with the commodity for defying his orders.

Knowing about the ‘precarious’ situation, the factory managing director Ahmed Younas Bilal rushed to the DCO office and ensured him that farmers in the district would be provided fertilizer on a priority basis.

The managing director also assured the DCO that farmers would be provided fertilizers on controlled rates.

On Monday, the factory administration supplied 15,000 urea bags to local farmers as per the promise while an equal number of bags would be provided to farmers in different parts of the district in a couple of days.—Correspondent
